Our Story

MORE THAN
A STAGE

Prima Performing Arts is Irvine's home of musical theatre, dance and drama — where confidence is built, creativity comes to life, and lifelong friendships begin.

Who we are

A COMMUNITY OF PERFORMERS, DREAMERS AND STORYTELLERS

Prima is based at the Fullarton Community Hub in Irvine. We teach musical theatre, dance, singing and drama — and we put on the kind of shows people talk about long after the lights go down.

Every session is designed to build confidence, encourage creativity and develop fundamental performance skills. It's a place where every performer feels safe to sing out loud, step into character and find their voice — on and off the stage.

Whether a performer dreams of the West End or simply loves spending time in the studio, they'll find a place at Prima where they can thrive, build lasting friendships and create unforgettable memories.

What we believe

OUR ETHOS

At Prima Performing Arts, we believe every child deserves to feel seen, valued, and celebrated for exactly who they are.

Our school is more than a place to learn singing, dance, and drama—it’s a community where confidence grows, friendships flourish, and every young performer is encouraged to discover their own unique voice.

Using the performing arts as our vehicle, we nurture creativity, resilience, self-belief, and individuality. We understand that every child shines in a different way, and we are passionate about creating an environment where they feel safe to express themselves, take risks, and embrace every opportunity with joy.

Whether a child dreams of performing on stage or simply wants to build confidence and make lasting friendships, every journey is equally important to us. We celebrate every achievement big or small and support each performer to grow at their own pace.

At Prima Performing Arts, we don’t just teach performing arts.

We inspire confidence, celebrate individuality, and empower every child to shine in their own way.

MEET THE TEACHERS

Emma — FOUNDER, DIRECTOR & PRINCIPAL TEACHER

EMMA

FOUNDER, DIRECTOR & PRINCIPAL TEACHER

Prima Performing Arts opened its doors on 17th April 2024, born from Emma’s move to Irvine from Renfrewshire. After years of teaching full-time at several dance schools across Renfrewshire and Ayrshire and serving as lead creative on many of their productions, Emma felt it was time to bring her expertise, skill set, and diverse knowledge of the arts to the community of Irvine. Drawing on her MSc in Dance Science and Education, Emma combines her academic insight with years of hands-on experience & professional performing contracts to deliver a holistic, research-informed approach to teaching. Her passion lies in nurturing not just talented performers, but confident, healthy, and resilient young people both on and off the stage. Emma has devoted her life to the performing arts. For her, the arts are more than just performance, they are a vehicle for building self-belief, confidence, and connection in young people. In a world where children are so easily influenced, she strives to create a safe and inspiring space where every performer feels seen, supported, and encouraged to be completely themselves. When Prima first opened, Emma had high hopes for what the school could become but the reality has already far exceeded those expectations. This success is thanks to our amazing performers, their parents/carers, and the shared trust that makes Prima the thriving, joyful community it is today.

Jamie — MUSICAL THEATRE AND PERFORMANCE COACH
